With well over a decade of experience, Russell advises and defends large law firms and their insurers in high profile and complex professional negligence and malpractice claims. He has broad experience of civil litigation in the High Court and Appeal Courts as well as arbitration, mediation and ADR.

Russell's practice also focuses on advising law firms on a wide range of regulatory obligations, and risk management issues including self-reporting, Anti-Money Laundering, conflicts, confidentiality and privilege.  Russell is frequently instructed to scope and conduct internal investigations for law firms, including the preparation of substantive investigation reports and follow up advisory work.

Russell frequently advises and represents law firms in formal contact with The Solicitors Regulation Authority, including assisting with and responding to production notices, advice on forensic inspection visits, written representations, attendance at formal interviews, negotiating agreed outcomes and acting in the defence of disciplinary proceedings.

Russell is a regular contributor and speaker on issues relating to law firm liability, risk management and regulatory matters.
